Apresentação do Curso
The Master in Spatial Design course is an advancement of the knowledge base already acquired in the Bachelor in Design course, more focused on the built environment and urban experience. It specializes in the transformation of interior spaces, temporary public structure design, exhibition design, and adaptive reuse of disused habitations. It is a culmination of multiple design competences of typography, form perception, communication, storytelling, human factors and user experience applied to the design of a 3D environment.
Master in Spatial Design trains students to operate at the intersection of construction, architecture and design communities. Globally the increase in urbanization means manmade environment is a reality of human existence, thus creating an important area of contribution for designers to operate in.
Spatial design entails dealing with human habitation and manmade spaces- both covered and open- confronting diverse issues of urban renewal, property redevelopment, and public space utilization. Spatial designers contribute to society by enhancing the interaction between human beings and the urban environment.
Graduates will be trained with process models, tools and theory to acquire a working knowledge base of spatial planning, structure design, project management and 3D visualization techniques. Emerging from their basic design education, spatial designers will be trained to acquire proficiency in formulating hi-fidelity proposals interweaving skills of furniture, material technologies, architectural fittings, colour, lighting, interactive technologies and user experience.
Spatial designers will professionally operate in conjunction with city municipalities, architects, interior designers, industrial designers and civil engineers. Graduates will find employment opportunities in freelance consultancy, architecture/ design studios, public institutions and private corporations as in-house designers addressing the design identity of physical infrastructure.
